The Artist
Tattooing didn't get sought out as a career — it found me.
An unexpected path at seventeen led to an apprenticeship under Chris Sims in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Sims, who worked for Dungeons & Dragons and Wizards of the Coast before picking up a machine, saw something worth mentoring. I was licensed the day I turned eighteen.
The lineage runs back a little further than that: Lyle Tuttle apprenticed Rebecca Black, Rebecca Black apprenticed Chris Sims, and Chris Sims apprenticed me.
The work
Since 2009 the practice has grown to span more than most: ornamental realism and art nouveau, neo-traditional, color realism and black & grey, cover-ups that other artists turn away. The foundation was realism — learning to tattoo anything I could see, given the right reference — and everything since has been built on that.
What runs through the color work is saturation. I pack intense, vibrant color across every style I tattoo, including realism, where the convention is to go muted. Vibrancy and longevity aren't a tradeoff when the work is packed properly the first time. Years of watching my own pieces heal is what taught me the difference.
Cover-ups
The reputation here isn't only for custom work — it's for the heavy-duty transformations most artists won't touch. With patience and the right number of sessions, nearly anything can be reworked into something worth showing off. It's faster and more affordable than laser removal, though still a process that takes commitment. For anyone ready to finally move on from old ink, that's expertise worth finding.
Beyond the chair
I'm a registered sword swallower with the Sword Swallowers Association International, a two-time world record holder, and have been featured in Ripley's Believe It or Not museums and multiple international documentaries. I've performed sword swallowing and the art of body suspension at Theatre Bizarre, the largest underground masquerade in the world, and have tattooed and performed across most of the continental United States, Canada, and beyond — guesting at roughly fifty shops over the years.
I've been published for tattooing, art and writing — work relevant to tattooing and otherwise — more times than I can count, including educational articles on hygiene and safety standards in the industry. Convention recognition includes first place for black and white portraiture, judged a year healed.
Still making things
A lifelong student of art in all its forms, I keep a personal library built up over the years and continue to create beyond skin — currently illustrating and writing Stygian Depths, a tabletop RPG system in publication. That creative thread runs all the way back to my mentor's Wizards of the Coast roots. Chris Sims remains a close friend to this day; we still game together.
